5 binge-worthy TV shows you should watch immediately

Gavin & Stacey

Honestly, I don't trust anyone who hasn't seen Gavin & Stacey, but since it is a brand new year, I'm going to cut you some slack and demand that you binge this immediately. It's one of those shows that, for me anyway, never gets old and is never unfunny. We can all agree that Stacey is the world's most annoying character, but Pam is my spirit animal and Nessa makes the show.

Brief overview:

Gavin & Stacey follows the story of a long-distance relationship between (believe it or not) Gavin and Stacey. Their relationship and the merging of their families is the main focus of the show and it is just pure, feel-good British comedy.

You

You is a fairly new series on Netflix, which I'd say falls in to the thriller category. I didn't expect to be so hooked so quickly, especially since it's from the same producers as Riverdale (which, sorry not sorry, is trash, I think we can agree). I binged all 10 episodes in one day and I'm upset I didn't make it last longer. I'm hoping there's a season two! Bonus is that it features Penn Badgely from Gossip Girl and that's really never a bad thing.

Brief overview:

You follows the story of Joe, the manager of a New York bookstore, who happens to meet Beck one day whilst working. He quickly becomes obsessed with her and a series of chilling events ensue...

New Girl

If you're looking for something dorky, awkward and genuinely funny then New Girl is for you. I feel like I return to this show every year or so and I love re-watching it from the start. There's seven whole seasons to keep you occupied and seasons 1 through 6 are included with Prime on Amazon (bonus!)

Brief overview:

Dorky and adorable Jess Day breaks up with her boyfriend and moves in to an apartment with three guys she found online. Watch Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Winston and Jess' childhood best friend and model Cece navigate their lives and relationships with all sorts of hilarious and awkward consequences.

Jane the Virgin

A heartwarming romantic comedy with a sprinkling (okay, definitely more than a sprinkling) of drama to keep it spicy. I didn't think this show would be my cup of tea but I was hooked in just a few episodes. Jane the Virgin ends up being one of those TV shows where you get so invested in the character's lives that it starts to take over your own. Also, Rogelio is a gift to this show. You should watch it just for him.

Brief overview:

Jane Villanueva has grown up determined not to repeat her mother's mistakes in becoming a teenage mother. Jane vows to wait until marriage before losing her virginity, with her police detective boyfriend being nothing but supportive of this decision. However, a routine visit to her gynaecologist changes her life forever.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Remember Sabrina the Teenage Witch? This is like that but darker, scarier and (in a way) sexier. I was really excited to watch this but put off by the fact that it is associated with Riverdale, which we can all agree is trash. However, I think this interfered very little with the show and CAoS turned out to actually be a really great show! The visuals are amazing. You can catch season one on Netflix now with a second season in the pipeline.

Brief overview:

Follow Sabrina Spellman as she navigates life as a half-witch, whilst fighting the evil forces of the Dark Lord and those that wish to harm her and those she loves.
